Ducati touts world’s first motorcycle and airbag jacket wireless connection
Ducati has revealed that they and Dainese have partnered up and successfully raised the bar on two-wheeled rider safety with a high tech product that addresses painful collisions and laydowns that can result in serious injury or at worst, fatalities.
The Italian motorcycle manufacturer claims they have produced the world’s first production motorcycle that wirelessly connects to Dainese airbag riding jackets.
The Multistrada D-Air features an intelligent system of sensors that are fully integrated into Multistrada’s existing electronics. The system wirelessly connects to Dainese airbag jackets and continually monitors the motorcycle’s dynamic situation. When a genuine accident scenario presents itself the airbag is deployed. The airbags inside the jackets of the rider and pillion take about 45 milliseconds to inflate simultaneously.
Ducati will be releasing further information and pricing on April 15th. Sale of the Multistrada D-Air which is to be launched May 2014 will be limited to Europe only.
